Ayran Yogurt Drink recipe
Ayran (also known as laban or lassi) is a cold yogurt drink originating with many Central Asian and Middle Eastern and Southeastern European countries. Depending on where you find this refreshing drink, the ingredients, style of preparation, and taste may alter. But no matter what you call it, this refreshing and simple drink is a unique way to use up leftover yogurt, and a very tasty summer treat!
Ingredients:
- 4 c. plain yogurt (homemade is preferred)
- 4 c. cold water
- ½ c. fresh mint leaves
Directions:
In large bowl whisk yogurt and water together until a a buttermilk consistency has been achieved.
Transfer to serving jug or individual glasses and chill 2-4 hours, or until ready to serve. Serve cold, garnished with mint.
